Predefined Pauses
The Predefined Pauses panel allows you to set the pause intervals for automatically generated pauses.
Setting Predefined Pauses
The following pauses can be defined on the Predefined Pauses panel
Type of Pause | Description |
---|---|
Sentence Pause | The length of pauses automatically generated by TextAloud after each sentence. Set this value to 0 if you do not want pauses inserted at end of sentences. |
Paragraph Pause | The length of pauses automatically generated by TextAloud after each paragraph. A "paragraph" in TextAloud is a block of text followed by 2 or more carriage returns and/or blank lines. Set this value to 0 if you do not want pauses inserted at end of paragraphs. |
Pause Tags
A Pause Tag in TextAloud is a string of the form
{{Pause=nn}}
where nn is the number of seconds to pause. After using one of the Insert Pause menu entries, you can adjust this pause value in the directly in the article, but be sure to keep the rest of the tag in tact. Pause tags may also be keyed into an article without using the Pause Menu entries.
One or more spaces are required to precede the pause tag, otherwise TextAloud will not recognize the tag.
Fractions of seconds can be used by entering decimal values. For example, a half second pause can be generated by using the tag
{{Pause=.5}}
Pause tags are recognized by TextAloud if they appear in imported documents.
